Dr. Steve passed away on April22, 2009 at his dearly loved home in Stillwater, Oklahoma after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Dr. Steve was born on January 4, 1952 in Jackson, Mississippi to James Luther Gipson and Johnnie F. Gipson Dunn. Dr. Steve received his B.S. in Physics in 1975; his M.S. in Engineering Science in 1978; and his Ph.D. in Engineering Science in 1982 all from Louisiana State University in Baton rouge, LA. He was a Professor in the Structural Engineering and Mechanics group of the School of Civil and Environment al Engineering at Oklahoma State University.\
