Tempie Perkins Evans had her heavenly birthday on November 17, 2011, while at Hospice Ministries in Jackson, MS. She was born in the Turo Infirmary, New Orleans, LA, November 25, 1934, but enjoyed her young life in Bay St. Louis, MS, until she completed college. She was Valedictorian of both her 1953 Bay High Senior Class and her 1955 Gulf Park College graduating class. She was an accomplished pianist winning several Superior rankings in State Music Competitions. After graduating from Gulf Park College, she worked at the Hancock Bank in Gulfport for several years before moving to Baton Rouge, LA, to work for Sears and The Audubon Insurance Group. She worked for Audubon Insurance Group for 35 years and retired in 2004. Upon retirement she moved to Jackson and resided at The Admiral Retirement Center where she often played the piano for Sunday afternoon church services. Miss Evans is preceded in death by her parents H. Grady Perkins, Sr. and Norma Gex Perkins Moragne. She is survived by her brother, Captain Grady Perkins, Jr., USN, Retired and his wife Judy of Hansville, WA, an aunt, Juanita Gex of Picayune, MS, and cousin, Jay Lacoste and his wife, Vivian of Jackson and their family: R. Lash Lacoste and Amanda (Jace), Kenneth B. Lacoste and Jennifer (Laurin, Brooks, Rush) and Paul V. Lacoste and Laura (Cannon, Cole). Tempie, playing the piano at family gatherings, will be missed.\ We thank Father Brian Patrick Carroll for the special Sacraments preparing Tempie for her heavenly journey. A celebration of her life will be held in December at The Admiral Retirement Center during their Sunday afternoon service, where Tempie often provided piano accompaniment. Alta Woods Baptist Church, Dr. Frank Thomas, conducts these services at The Admiral and the family wishes to thank he and Alta Woods Church members for their many prayers for Tempie during her illness. The family also wishes to thank the nurses and staff and volunteers at Hospice Ministries for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice Ministries is suggested. \
