Terri was born in Jackson, MS on June 28, 1958 to Ruby Norsworthy Tew and Charles Tew. She graduated from the Byram High School in 1976 and was employed with South Central Bell for ten years. Terri married Don N. Kazery Jr. on December 06, 1986 and together, they raised four boys: Don Newman III, Thomas Chadwick, Peter Augustine, and William Hudson. Terri and Don believed in instilling life-long skills through the family’s extracurricular activities. Terri led an active lifestyle and the family enjoyed running together. Terri and Don also encouraged their children’s musical education and the boys achieved advanced positions in the Mississippi Youth Symphony and the College and Metropolitan Orchestras. Along with performing on the violin and viola at Christmas Eve Mass and local nursing homes for many years, the boys also participated in 4-H Dairy Programs Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Terri and Don were very proud that all four boys earned the Eagle Scout rank, along with numerous awards in both music and running. Terri loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She was particularly proud of the variety of edible flowers she grew and sold to local restaurants. She had a rare talent for making candied flowers. Terri helped all throughout the year on the family’s Christmas tree farm: trimming, tying, pricing, staking, and planting. She loved helping families shop for the perfect Christmas tree. When the Kazery family still had a large blackberry farm, she enjoyed picking and selling blackberries in farmer’s markets across the state. Terri also took pride in her cooking. Her favorite place was her recently remodeled kitchen and she loved filling it with her friends and family whenever she could. She enjoyed cooking Lebanese and Southern cuisine, but her most famous dish was her delicious Christmas cookies! Terri loved shopping and was always well-dressed and fashionable. Her favorite place to shop was Vicksburg, MS. Terri loved a good bargain and was a smart shopper (until it was time for Don to buy what she wanted!). She enjoyed collecting many things, but was especially fond of insect brooches, ceramics, and figurines. Terri had a large personality that could light up a room. She treated everyone like they were family and was great at building and maintaining relationships. She was caring, genuine, and easy to love. She had a great sense of humor and was always joking around. Terri loved animals as much as she loved people and kept both chickens and dogs. Her special love was her new puppy, “Weller”. Terri is survived by her husband of 35 years, Don Kazery, Jr. and their children Don Newman Kazery III (Taylor), Thomas Kazery (Heidi), Peter Kazery (Dana), and William Kazery (Lydia) and her grandson Chadwick Kazery; her sister, Vicki Tew Cochran (Keith) of Collins; she is preceded in death by her parents Charles Tew and Ruby Norseworthy Tew. The family would like to give special thanks to many wonderful health providers at St. Dominic: Dr. Ruth Fredericks; Dr. Bobby Graham, Dr. George Smith-Vaniz, Dr. Ben Kerr, Dr. Eric Balfour, and Sister Dorothea Sondgeroth and a large number of nurses and medical staff. Memorials in lieu of flowers are to be made to the general fund Cathedral of Saint Peter in Jackson, MS and Saint Dominic’s Foundation in memory of Terri Kazery.
