Theresa Cooke, 77, went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2019 in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm and then from 10:00am until the 11:00am funeral service on Wednesday, January 9 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood South Cemetery in Jackson, MS. Mrs. Cooke was born December 19, 1941 to Mr. and Mrs. Leo and Ann Haffey in Jackson, MS. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School where she exceled in academics and was a standout basketball player. After graduation, Mrs. Cooke attended Jackson Commercial College. She retired from Allstate Insurance Company and Mississippi Department of Transportation. She was married to her loving husband of almost 59 years Mr. J.C. “Sonny” Cooke. She was a longtime resident of Crystal Springs and attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Crystal Springs, MS. She loved her church family. She was a wonderful cook who loved her family and friends, but her favorite enjoyment in life was spending time with her family; husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were all the love of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Ann Haffey. Survivors include her husband, J. C. “Sonny” Cooke; sons, Tim Cooke of Hoover, AL, Dennis (Joy) Cooke of Helena, AL, Marty Cooke of Pearl, Rusty Cooke of Crystal Springs; brother, Leo (Robin) Haffey of Nashville; sisters, Carolyn Kerr of Utica, and Jenny Haffey of Richland; grandchildren, Lauren, Marty Jr., Victoria, Tristen, Austin and John Collum; great-grandchildren, Lana and Emery In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent to C.A. R.A. and Copiah Animal Shelter.
