Thomas Jefferson Blair, Sr., 88, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at his home in Brandon. Visitation will be Monday, February 3, 2014 from 12 PM until the 2PM funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Blair lived in Brandon for 43 years. He worked with The City of Jackson for 14 years and then went to work with Irby Construction and traveled all over the country with them. He was the founder and owner of Blair Tree Service out of Brandon and spent most of his life doing that. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing everyday and hunting often. He enjoyed gardening and had the “best tomatoes in Rankin County” according to his family. He loved life and people including his children, grandchildren and his puppy “Bruno” that was 17 years old. Mr. Blair was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Lance Blair; 2 sons, Thomas Blair, Jr., and Allen Hope Blair; parents, Tom and Mary Blair; his sister, Lorree Howard; and 4 brothers, Bill, W.A. Cordis, and Gaynell Blair. He is survived by his sons, Timothy Blair, Terry (Darla) Blair, and Daniel Lance Blair all of Brandon; daughter, Wanda (Jack) Gregory of Cato; sisters, Louise Reeves of Mendenhall, Pauline Powell of Raleigh, and Dorothy Ivy; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
