Thomas Allen Byrd, lovingly called “Daddy Ham” passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at his home in Florence. He was 91 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, March 24th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. There will be a Graveside Service on Friday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Clear Branch Cemetery in Florence. Rev. Roger Lee and Rev. Brian Presson will officiate. Those serving as pallbearers are West White, Dakota Byrd, Kyle Byrd, A.J. Jones, Justin Brown and Austin Brunson. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Davis and Tim King. Mr. Byrd was born December 9, 1930 in the Clear Branch Community to the late Tom and Drucille Byrd. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. In 1954, he married Mary Kathleen Hayman. He worked most of his life in construction and most recently worked in cattle farming. He was an avid Gardner whose favorite hobbies include growing tomatoes, playing in bee hives, chewing tobacco, bailing hay and his John Deere tractors. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Kathleen Byrd of Clear Branch; daughters, Dr. Joyce Byrd of Clear Branch, Mary “Sissy” (Randy) Blair of Clear Branch, and Faye (Mark) Smith of Florence; sons, Webb “Bo” (Kathy) Byrd of Mt. Juliet, TN, Paul (Tina) Byrd of Clear Branch, and Tim (Starla) Byrd of Clear Branch; brother, William “Bill” Byrd of Howards Creek, FL; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his “petchild”, Andy Taylor.
