Thomas Laverne Ooton, 80, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009 at his home in Jackson. Visitation will be 5pm until the 7pm memorial service Friday, November 6, 2009 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram.\ \ Mr. Ooton was a native of Illinois having lived in Jackson since 1978. A Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, he earned the Combat Infantry Badge, 3 Bronze and 1 Silver Stars and the Purple Heart. He worked for MS Termite as an inspector and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.\ \ He is preceded in death by his wife Marie Avet Ooton. Survivors included his sons Timothy Ooton and wife Donna of Byram and Chuck Ooton and wife Danielle of Flowood; grandchildren, Olivia, Alexis, Gracie, Rachael and Seth and 1 great grandchild.\ \ Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
