Thomas Joseph “T.J.” Vertucci, Sr., 67, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2014 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson after a brief illness. Visitation will be Friday, September 12th from 5-8 PM and Saturday, September 13th from 10 - 11 AM. The Funeral Service will be at 11AM at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Tommy was born and raised in Queens, New York until the he moved to Mississippi with his mother and siblings while a teenager. He spent most of his life in the Rankin County area where he graduated from Florence High School. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Tommy worked as a Master Electrician with Klinger Electric for many years before working as an Electrical Contractor for his own company Service Electric. He loved to hunt, enjoyed going deep sea fishing, and was a self-taught chef who enjoyed cooking for his family including holiday dinners. Tommy was preceded in death by his mother, Lynn Vertucci and his brother, Nicola Vertucci. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Edna “Kreuz”-Vertucci of Florence; children, Tommy Vertucci, Jr. of Crystal Springs, Tony (Angel) Vertucci of Richland, Bill (Georgia) Kreuz of Baltimore, MD; Beth (Joe) Messina of Terry; brother, Joey Vertucci, Sr. of Richland, sister, Rosina (Jimmy) Sumrall of Richland; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
