Thomas M. “Tom” Truitt, 88, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at his home in Florence. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, January 13th from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Garden of Memories. Tom was born February 19, 1932 to the late Lexie and Mamie Truitt in Sallis, MS. He has lived in the Florence area for the last 50 years moving from Lucedale, MS. He was a faithful member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church in Jackson. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for 4 years and with the MS Army National Guard for 39 years. He worked as an Engineer with MDOT and he enjoyed building and construction. In his spare time, he enjoyed water skiing, fishing, and hunting, especially bird hunting. He also loved piloting aircrafts and was a Chief Warrant Officer (CW4), Master Aviator. Tom was passionate about his family, his military service, but above all, he loved the Lord. Along with his parents, Tom is also preceded in death by his brother, Jim Truitt. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Truitt of 66 years; sons, Kevin (Sylvia) Truitt of Petal, MS; daughters, Judie (Mike) Neville of Birmingham, AL and Susan (Marion) Landrum of Pearl, MS; 5 grandchildren, Michael (Leigh Ann) Truitt, Sarah Truitt, Morgan (Chris) Hinton, Nathan (Shannon) Landrum, and Erin Landrum; 9 great grandchildren; and sister, Faye Bruner of Madison, MS.
