Tommie A. Ray, 84, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation is from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram with an 11 a.m. funeral home chapel service. Interment will be private. \ \ Mr. Ray was born and raised in Kosciusko, moving to the Jackson area in 1939 and eventually making his home in Terry in 1974. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served in combat on the USS Wasp during World War II. Mr. Ray was an automobile service manager for over 35 years working at Sellers Motor Company over 20 years and at Harreld Chevrolet for 16 years before retiring in 1990. While at Harreld Chevrolet his service teams were consistently awarded the General Motors Company's top award for automotive service excellence within the southeastern United States. Mr. Ray was an active member of First Baptist Church Terry.\ \ Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Warren; and step-daughter, Wanda Faubion. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Ray of Terry; son, Tom Ray, Jr.; daughter, Linda Ray; step-son, Scott Stringer of Terry; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. \ \ In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Terry Building Fund.\
