Troy Ellis Herring, 82, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Veterans Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be 9am until the 11am funeral service Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood South. A native of Mississippi, Mr. Herring was a Veteran of the United State Air Force, stationed all over the United States and the world, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He retired after 20 years of loyal service from Shaw Air force Base in Sumter, SC and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. Mr. Herring was a Texas Cowboy and avid horseman. He was a life member of American Legion #112, VFW #687, DAV, 40 & 8, Mason at Somerset Lodge #1205 in Texas and Leavell Woods Lodge in Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents Ben Hogan Herring and Maude Amber Herring. Survivors include his wife, Carol Herring of Jackson, sons, David of Jackson and Kevin of Pearl; grandchildren, Christopher of Alexandria, VA and Melissa Stover of St. Petersburg, FL.
