Mrs. Velma D. Alford

Velma D. Alford, 85, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon. Visitation will be Saturday, May 24th from 10am until the 12pm funeral service at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Mrs. Alford lived most of her life in South Jackson as a Homemaker. She was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church. She loved the Atlanta Braves and was a season ticket holder to the Jackson Generals. She enjoyed watching tennis and old Western shows, playing cards, crossword puzzles and swinging outside. She loved her grandchildren and dogs. Mrs. Alford is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Alford; her parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother. She is survived by her children, Sonny (Linda) Alford, Mike (Vickie) Alford, Gene (Shirley) Alford, Ricky (Gina) Alford, Joyce (James) Johnston, and Elaine (Billy) Warren; 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren
