Vickie Lou Johnson

Vickie Lou Johnson passed from this life Friday, September 29, 2023, at her home in Pearl, MS. She was 65 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. hour of service on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. Burial will follow at Calvary Church Cemetery in Mize, MS.

Vickie was born on October 3, 1957, to Clinton and Vera Austin in Vidalia, LA. She has lived in the Pearl community for over 45 years. There is where she met and married her husband, Russell “Rusty” Johnson, on January 29, 1977. She loved him dearly. Her pride and joy was her son Russ who was born with Down Syndrome. He had several medical needs and through it all his Momma was by his side taking care of him. She loved her family, and she loved the Lord. She served faithfully at Southside Assembly of God where she enjoyed her time working in the nursery. She loved to shop, and she loved to dance. She was the type of person that would give you the shirt off her back. She truly had a servant’s heart.

Vickie is preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters, Susie Furr and Paula Thomas.  She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Rusty Johnson of Pearl; son, Russ Johnson of Pearl; daughter, Shelly Anderson (Kenneth) of Brandon; son-in-law, Jeremy McCamon (Shannon) of Pearl; sister, Mary Lewis (Johnny Vanderford) of Pearl; brothers, Kenny Austin (Sandra) of Lakeland, FL, Dean Austin (Candice) of Clinton and Lloyd Thomas of Brandon; grandchildren, Macy McCamon, Jeremiah McCamon and Spencer Anderson.
