Mrs. Violet Evelyn Goins was peacefully called home by her Lord from the University Medical Center on Thursday, July, 30, 2015 in Jackson, Mississippi at the age of 84. Violet Goins was born in British Guyana to Mr. and Mrs. John Maxey Walton who served as missionaries. She graduated from Frankfort Pilgrim College in Indiana and went on to serve with her husband, James Edsel Goins in pastoral ministry in Wisconsin, Louisiana and the last 38 years in Jackson, Mississippi. She was a lover of flowers, gardening, baking and was an accomplished pianist and organist. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Edsel Goins; sons, Terry (Melinda) Goins of French Camp, Ken Goins of Weir, Kevin Goins of Raymond, and John (Lana) Goins of Terry; brother, Paul Walton of Tampa, FL; and grandchildren, Seth, Rachel, Matthew, Mark, Kay-Anna, Kari and Leah Goins. Visitation will be 5-8pm Monday, August 3, 2015 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and additional visitation from 9-10am Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Asbury Congregational Methodist Church with services beginning at 10am Tuesday at the Church.
