Virginia Lee Cotten, 86, passed away on March 22, 2022. Visitation will be held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS. Virginia was born in Meridian, MS to Taft George and Marie George on June 20, 1935. She spent her youth helping her grandparents in their family store in downtown Meridian. She graduated from Meridian High School where she met William B. Moss and then attended Meridian Junior College. She married William B. Moss and born to that union were William B. Moss, Jr and Terri Lee Moss Brown. She returned to school at Hinds Junior College and received an Associate Degree. In August of 1984, she married Wayne Cotten. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage. She spent her professional career as a food buyer for BCI, Kraft, and United Foods and retired as a head food buyer in 2002 after 25 years of service. When she wasn’t working, she loved spending time planting flowers, loving on the many stray animals that she picked up along the way, rooting on her Ole Miss Rebels, and scavenging estate sales for all kinds of treasures. She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter. She is survived by her husband Wayne R. Cotten of Terry, her son William B. Moss, Jr. (Carla) of Brandon, her step-daughter, Lesley R. Cotten of Byram, her stepson, Joseph C. Cotten (Melissa) of Byram, her grandchildren Amanda Moss of Jackson, Christy Reeder of Brandon, Meaghan Ahlberg (Phillip) of Flowood, Chad Moss of Brandon, Tori Cotten of Byram and 8 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Animal Rescue League or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
