Mrs. Virginia Ruth Overstreet

Virginia “Ruth” Overstreet, 89, journeyed to her final home and Heaven received a beautiful spirit on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Funeral Service will be at 2pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 with a visitation beginning at 1pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Florence. Interment will follow at Clear Branch Cemetery in Florence, MS. Mrs. Overstreet was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church participating in the choir, bible study and many other positions. She was born and raised in Florence, and worked in Jackson for Southern Bell until her retirement in 1978. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jean F. Overstreet and 4 siblings. She is survived by her son, Larry (Elaine) Jennings of Florence; sister, Mattie Cleveland of Florence; grandchildren, Stephanie (Tip) Dyess, Larry (Angel) Jennings, Jr. and Chris (Liz) Jennings; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; with 1 grandchild on the way.
