Mrs. Vivian Weimer Cothen was born January 11, 1926, and passed away on January 30, 2023. A celebration of her life and graveside services will be held at the Pavilion at Lakewood Cemetery on Clinton Boulevard at noon on Saturday.
Vivian was married to D.D. “Buddy” Weimer, Jr. for 55 years. God blessed them with two sons, Chuck and Randy. Several years after Buddy’s passing she married Dr. Joe Cothen. They were married for 14 years until Joe’s passing in 2019.
Daniel Memorial Baptist, Alta Woods Baptist, First Baptist of Jackson and most recently First Baptist of Brandon were her church homes while living in the Jackson area. Vivian was always active in her church, teaching children, and serving on committees, and was an Alta Woods Baptist Church historian. She enjoyed cooking, especially blessing family and friends with Nana’s famous fried chicken. She was very creative and expressed that in writing plays, skits, family activities, a biography, and many poems, essays and observations.
She was best described as ‘spunky’ by those who knew her well. “Life is hard by the yard but a cinch by the inch,” “Yesterday’s gone, forget it” and ”These earthly containers wear out” are a sampling of her ‘Nana-isms’ that will be fondly remembered for generations to come. She dearly loved her family and adored her grandchildren, and they loved and learned from her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Chuck Weimer and ‘daughter-in-love’ Sue of Pearl and Randy Weimer and ‘daughter-in-love’ Ginger of Pearl. Her beloved grandchildren: Eric Weimer (Emily), DeAnne Anderson (Patrick), Kemily Nunnelee (Reed), Jacob Weimer (Cindy Jo), Andrea Carlisle (Greg), and Jack Weimer, Jr. (Rhi). Along with those she also leaves behind her 13 great grandchildren: Todd Hornback, Jackson Carlisle, Thomas Nunnelee, Mason Weimer, Harper Nunnelee, Sadie Carlisle, Benton Weimer, Trainor Carlisle, Jane Alan Nunnelee, Lucy Nunnelee, Vivian Carlisle, Arianwen Weimer, and Iwan Weimer.
