Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Wade Ellison Morrison, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on March 11th at the age of 83. Wade was born to the late Doyle and Nellie Pearl Morrison on December 6, 1939 in Utica Mississippi. He was raised in Utica and attended Utica High School where he met the love of his life, Carmen (Bootsie) Simpson. One day he hotwired her car during school lunch and drove it past the café where she was eating, noticing her car going by she became angry and reported it to the school principal. That move sparked a romance that has lasted for 65 years. After marriage they moved to Jackson, Mississippi where he worked several years at Presto Manufacturing and was given the nickname (Pork Chop) after a bet on how many steaks he could eat. He later worked for the City of Jackson, and Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation where he retired. He was a hard worker and provided for his family and sometimes worked two or more jobs to pay for his children’s college education. He was a people person who never met a stranger and would go out of his way to help anyone. The stories he told about his life were often hilarious, very interesting and he often wrote articles to editors of the Clarion Ledger voicing his opinion on a variety of issues he felt strongly about. One of his favorite pastimes was cooking for his family and friends. He was especially known for his Steaks, Daddy’s Sauce and Cole Slaw recipe. Other pastimes included, Fishing, NASCAR, Football, Facebook and especially time with his family. He and Carmen enjoyed traveling to various places in Europe, Spain, Greece, Hawaii, and US. One trip to Las Vegas, he developed poison Ivy all over his upper body from yard work the day before, but managed to suffer through the trip. He was always a trooper and could make the best out of a bad situation.
During his last few years, Wade developed physical complications that at times would render him homebound especially this year. When he could only sit in his favorite chair and look out the window, GOD provided beautiful white Swans in the pond for his enjoyment. He will be loved and missed by all who knew his genuine love, compassion, and Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Paul Morrison, Doyle Gray Morrison, Myrna French, and Elizabeth Ashley.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Carmen Morrison; a daughter, Dolly (Mike) Tullos of Brandon, MS; two sons, Paul (Stella) Morrison of Panama City, FL, and Norman (Tamami) Morrison of Sharpsburg, GA; two brothers, Neal Morrison of Raymond, MS and Jimmy Morrison of Copiah County, MS; and a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne (Carol) Simpson, Jr of Byram, MS.
