Wallace L. Matthews, 82, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at his home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.\ \ Visitation is scheduled for 5 until 8 P.M. Monday at Chancellor Funeral Home of Florence. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday in the Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Palestine Cemetery, Harrisville, MS. Reverend Ricky James will officiate the service.\ \ The son of Lester and Virgie Mae Welch Matthews, Mr. Matthews is a native of Lawrence County, MS, and lived in Richland before moving to Florence. He was a truck driver, retired from Colonial Hardins Bakery and was a member of the First Apostolic Church of Florence. \ \ Mr. Matthews is survived by his daughters: Kathy Lynn Emmons of Dayton, OH, Rebecca Ann Duncan and Tammie Kay Ezell both of Florence; Brother: Bobby Owens Matthews of Brandon; Sisters: Dorothy Kelly, Willie Mae Dear, and Ida Boyd all of Harrisville, Annie Myrle Foshee of Jackson, and Betty Jean Morris of Brentwood, TN;\ Nine Grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren…\ Memorials may be made to the First Apostolic Church of Florence.\
