Wanda Cheryl Slawson

Wanda Cheryl Slawson, fondly called Cheryl by her family and friends, passed away on June 21, 2023, in Jackson, MS. She was born on March 12, 1953, also in Jackson, MS to Allie Mae Harmon Reves and Clyde Walter Reves Sr.

Cheryl had a long career with the Mississippi Highway Patrol Department of Public Safety from which she retired. She was an inspiration to many in her profession and touched many lives with her kindness and compassion.  

A woman of great personality and charm, Cheryl never failed to captivate those around her with her witty humor. Her advice was much sought after and she had a way of telling stories that kept everyone's attention. 

Cheryl will be remembered for her love for her children and grandchildren. She took great pleasure in spending time with them and made many memorable moments with them. She was also known for treating all the friends of her children as if they were one of her own. Everyone who knew Cheryl loved her for the warm person that she was.

Cheryl is survived by two daughters: Angela (Shannon) Bullock of Brandon and Elaine (Carl) McLemore of Terry; father, Clyde Reves Sr; brother, Clyde Reves Jr; four grandchildren: Hannah Spruiell, Alexis Spruiell, Nixon Bullock, and Skylar McLemore.

She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Allie Harmon Reves, and husband James William Slawson.

Her family invites all who knew Cheryl to join them at the Chancellor Funeral Home Byram Location in Byram, MS on June 24th to celebrate the life of this remarkable woman. Visitation will start at 12:30 pm followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Interment will then take place at Terry Cemetery in Terry, MS.
