Wayne Eiland Wray, 87, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2108 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation is Tuesday 9am until the 10 am service at Chancellor Funeral Home Chapel, Florence, MS. Interment will follow in Florence City Cemetery Wayne was born July 18, 1930 in Kilmichael, MS to James and Mary Eiland Wray. He lived in Florence 61 years and was an active member of First Baptist Church, Florence for 50 years. During his time, he served as a deacon before retiring. Wayne retired after 33 years working as an installer for Western Electric. He served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant serving during the Korean War. “Bully” as he was affectionately known by his brother sisters and “Uncle Bully” by his nieces and nephew, loved people. He made key chain crosses and gave them out to as many people as he could reach, most notably at Berry’s and in the drive thru at Chik Fil A in Brandon. Those in attendance at his visitation and service will each receive one of his gifts. Wayne was a craftsman and enjoyed arts and crafts and woodworking. He traveled to craft shows all over the United States. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Wray in 2009; parents, and brother, Lamar Wray. Survivors include his sons, Jerry (Teresa) Wray and Bobby (Debbie) Wray both of Florence; sisters, Mary Biggers of Barry, TX and Christine Garrett of Greenwood; 5 grandchildren, Jeremy (Jamie) Wray, Wes (Elizabeth) Wray, Chad (Susan) Wray, Lessie (Lance) Evans and Joey (Tracie) Saxton and 9 great grandchildren with one soon to arrive.
