Wheeler W. Dunn 96, of Terry passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018. Visitation is 5pm-7pm Monday October 1, 2018 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and again 10am Tuesday. Funeral services are 11am Tuesday October 2, 2018 in the chapel with interment to follow in the Terry cemetery. Mr. Dunn was born March 30, 1922 and educated in the Jackson Public Schools. He served in the Pacific in the first 5 Campaigns of WWII. His platoon holds unit citations for action in the Guadalcanal from General Alexander Patch. He was an Oil Producer and spent most of his life in oil related operations. He was a lay student of Genetics and a hound breeder. He produced many champions and loved working with Beagle hounds. He loved traveling and covered most of the world, being especially interested in the Orient and Southern Pacific. Mr. Dunn was a longtime deacon at First Baptist Church of Byram and held positions in most all areas of the church he loved. He was a master gardener and Consulting Rosarian for the American Rose Society and a member of the board for Central MS Rose Society. He was a volunteer Curator for the “Peace” rose garden at the MS Ag Museum and sole caretaker. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 yrs, Violet “Vi” Dunn in 2017 and his brother, Robert Dunn. He leaves behind his children: Richard W. Dunn (Janet) of Raymond, Debby Dunn Case (Erik) of Flowood, grandchildren: Andy Dunn (Denise), Ryan Dunn, Jeffrey Case (Lori) and Jessica Case Green (Jarrod), and great grandchildren: Jeremy, Jackson, and Jacob Porter and Gage and Ginny Grace Green, siblings: Tommy Dunn (Barbara) and Mildred Russell.
