Wilda Gookin

Mrs. Wilda Agnes Gookin, 85, died on September 6, 2010 at River Oaks Hospital. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 8, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence. Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.\ \ Mrs. Gookin, a cancer survivor, was very active in Camp Blue Bird and volunteered at the Samaritan's Heart. A lady that loved her family above everything, she also enjoyed cooking and loved the Florence Public Library. She was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church.\ \ She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard S. Gookin; son, Kenneth (Amy) Gookin of Las Vegas, NV; daughters: Betty Prouty Swilley of Nashville, TN and Karen (Mark) Easterling of Florence, MS; brother, Henry Stanley of Vinton, LA; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.\ \ In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to Mary Bozeman's Sunday School Class of Marvin UMC or Friends of Florence Public Library.
