William Kavanaugh “Butch” Allen, Jr., went to heaven on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Diversicare in Batesville, MS. Visitation will be Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence at 12:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories. Butch lived in Florence for over 30 years, moving from Jackson where he was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson. He was a simple man who loved his family with all his heart and soul, loved life, and loved God. He served our country in the U.S. Army and was an avid fisherman. Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Kavanaugh and Nola Allen. He is survived by his son, Charlie and his wife, LuAnn Plyler of Mobile, AL; daughter, Jamie and her husband, Don Cuykendall of Batesville, MS; brothers, Jim Allen of Pascagoula, MS and Charles and his wife, Tanya Allen of Bay St. Louis, MS; sisters, Pat and her husband, Gene Ferrell of Brandon and Ann Dale of Clinton, MS; 4 grandchildren, Ryne Plyler, Hayden Plyler, Emma Harper and Jake Harper; nieces, Karen Dale and Cynthia Cooper and nephew, Sam Ferrell In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in his honor.
