Mr. William Clyde "Buddy" Bailey

June 2, 1947 — June 21, 2014

William Clyde “Buddy” Bailey, 67 of Terry, MS passed away on June 21, 2014 at The Baptist Medical Center. Visitation will be 5-8pm Monday, June 23, 2014 and 10am until the 11am funeral service Tuesday, June 24, 2014, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery in Terry. Buddy was born in Durant, MS on June 2, 1947 to Willard and Emma Bailey and was the oldest of 5 children. He was a devoted, hard working man having worked for Apache for many years and retiring from Byrd Lumber Company after a lengthy battle with cancer. He had a love for the outdoors and all animals. The 40 year old horse that his son Scott roped on as a little boy remains in the pasture. He always had a yard full of fox hounds and loved taking them to run late at night. Give him a howling dog and a good ole gospel song and he was a happy man. Buddy was a devoted family man and a friend to all. He and his wife Judy were married for 47 years and they have one son, Scott Bailey. He loved to ride around the country side and if he saw a neighbor, he would stop and say hello. He was a gentle, soft spoken man of few words, however when he said something, you could know you were going to walk away laughing. He will surely be missed by his 2 grandchildren, Austin and Emma. He would sit on the porch everyday counting down the time until the school bus dropped them off. Saying no to them wasn’t an option with Buddy. Those who knew him can attest to his love and devotion to his Mother, Emma Bailey. After the death of his dad in 2013, he ate lunch with his mother every day, “If Buddy didn’t like it, Mama didn’t cook it.” Said his sister Diane. He fought a courageous battle; we all envy the strength he had throughout his departure. Buddy is preceded in death by his father, Willard Bailey and sister, Wanda Bailey. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Grice Bailey of Terry; son and daughter in law, Scott (Kate) Bailey of Terry; and 2 grand children, Austin and Emma; brother, John Bailey of Terry; sisters, Ruth (Scott) Mareci of Chicago and Diane (Bill) Turcotte of Terry; niece, Janet (Vernon) Decker of Brandon; nephew, Jason Whittington of Terry; mother in law, Louise Grice Montgomery of Cleary; and brother in law, sister in law and several nieces and nephews. The family expresses deep appreciation to Dr. Barry White and the nursing staff for the love and care Buddy received. All who knew and loved Buddy Bailey can truly say that they were blessed to have had him pass their way.
