William “Bill” Roy Hughes, Jr., 87, died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at his home. Visitation will be 5-7pm Monday, March 28, 2016 and 10am until the 11am funeral service Tuesday, March 29, 2016, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood South. Mr. Hughes was a longtime resident of South Jackson and a founding member of Oak Forest Baptist Church. He retired as Chief Master Sergeant from MS Air National Guard after 38 years of loyal service. Mr. Hughes absolutely loved football, all college sports, yard work and gardening. He loved his family and home—he was a quiet, humble man who was wise with a good sense of humor. Survivors include his loving wife of over 64 years Jeannine Loper Hughes of Byram; son Tommy Hughes of Jackson; daughters Sally Shaw of Raymond and Teresa Lowe (Tim) of Byram; brother James Hughes of Double Spring, AL; sisters Frances Rester of Brandon, Barbara Roberts of Brandon and Susan Burns of Columbus; grandchildren Emily Shaw Marciel (Matt), David Shaw, Ethan Shaw, Ryan Lowe (Alana) and Chad Lowe; great grandchildren Hannah, Madi Claire, Tristan and Brantley.
