William “Bill” Harvey Merritt, Jr., 60, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at his home in TN. Visitation will be 10am until the 1pm funeral service Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood South. Bill was a native of Jackson, MS, having lived the last 13 years in Gallatin, TN. He was a graduate of Wingfield High School in 1975 and 1979 graduate of MS State University, where he was a member of the Army ROTC where he was commissioned as 2nd Lt. He had his basic training in Fort Benning, GA serving four years in Germany. Upon returning to Fort Benning, GA he was discharged in 1988 as a Captain. Bill was an entertainer driver for Roberts Brothers Coach for the past 13 years in Gallatin, TN and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Jackson. He is preceded in death by his grandparents W.T. and Doris Merritt and D.A. and Hilda Ryan. Survivors include his parents, William “Harvey” Merritt, Sr. and Marinelle “Tinker” Merritt of Jackson; son, Jason Broadwell (Charity) of Columbus, GA; daughter, Erin Broadwell of Columbus, GA; sister, Cindy Merritt Mangum (Bill) of Byram; grandchildren, Calob & Katelyn Broadwell.
