Mr. William Lewis "Jack" Holmes

William Lewis “Jack” Holmes, 84, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at Briar Hill Rest Home in Florence. Visitation will be 5-7pm Monday, December 29, 2014 and 10am until the 11am funeral service Tuesday, December 30, 2014, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Mr. Holmes was born in Jackson, MS to the late Lewis Whitfield Holmes and Rosalie Hooks Hastings. He lived in South Jackson for 45 years, having lived in Crystal Springs since 2007. Mr. Holmes was a Dental Technician for 50+ years with Myers Labs, Blackburn Labs and retiring from Holmes Dental Lab. He was a 32degree F & AM Mason, member of John P. Byrd Lodge, Crystal Springs Lodge and the Lodge of Research. Mr. Holmes was an avid bowler, fisherman, hunter and member of New Zion Baptist Church in Crystal Springs. Survivors include his wife Joan Gilmore Holmes of Crystal Springs; son Lewis Wardell Holmes (Dianne) of Crystal Springs; daughter Sandra Elizabeth “Beth” Culver of Crystal Springs; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and a host of extended family.
