William Joseph Ifkovits, 85, passed away suddenly Friday, January 23, 2015 in Tucson, Arizona. Visitation will be Thursday, January 29th from 9-10 a.m. at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence followed by the Graveside Service in the Garden of Memories. Mr. Ifkovits was a very caring person with many friends. His children benefitted from his zest for life and trying new things. He wanted them to experience as much as possible in life. He took them fishing in Canada, skiing in Vale, Colorado, boating on Lake Michigan and many other experiences; too many to name. His daughter Lisa remembers him taking her and her siblings to Billy Goat’s Tavern, Wrigley Field, Blackhawks and Bears Games. He loved Chicago and wanted his children to know it like he did. He truly enjoyed life and loved his wife, Kitty, very much. They traveled all over the world together. He had a very good life and will be greatly missed. He was an animal lover and the family request that in lieu of flowers, please donate to an animal shelter in his name or his charity of choice, Little Sisters of the Poor. His grandson Bill celebrates his Poppa’s life with these reflections. “Amazing man, flaws and all. Helped shape who I was as a man. True definition of a man's man (no misogyny intended). He was a gunner during the Korean War in a B29 bomber, then came home and started his own company and decided to breed Appaloosa horses. Amazing man, amazing children, amazing wife. I always saw myself in him and will miss him always. He gave me a lot though, and that will permanently be with me. Love you poppa, tell Brutus, Sweetheart, Domino, and Miss Kitty I said hi.”
