William Lawrence Puckett, 88 of Terry, MS, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Following a private family visitation at Chancellor’s Funeral Home in Byram, a graveside service will be held at the Terry Cemetery in Terry at 2:00pm. Mr. Puckett was a faithful member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church in Pearl, MS. In his last months, he enjoyed visits from his church family on Sunday afternoons where they would sing his favorite hymns and bless him and his wife with scripture and prayers. Mr. Puckett retired from the Jackson Fire Department as Captain in 1973. He was fondly known as Ace Puckett. He also farmed soybeans from 1970-1991. He very much enjoyed growing his garden and sharing it with others. He truly knew what it was to walk and talk with our Lord in the garden. Mr. Puckett is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Jean Howell Puckett, his children, Robert L. Puckett, Bay St. Louis, MS; Rubie P. Johns (Andy), Gallman, MS; Ruthie P. LeMaire (Frenchy), Saucier, MS; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren along with his only remaining sibling, JoAnna P. Boren, Dekalb, MS; brother-in-laws, Lidell Howell (Deanie), Terry, MS; Charles Howell, Caves Springs, GA; David Boone (Martha), Vicksburg, MS and Billy Boone, Clinton, MS a sister-in-law, Francis Simpson and a whole host of loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Ruth Boone Puckett, his parents, Harvey Ashland and Angie Etta Puckett, brothers, H.D. Puckett, Lamar Puckett, Melvin Puckett and Rayford Puckett and sisters, Bonnie Jean Hudnall, Dora Alice Edwards, Lois Cherry and Annie Ruth Eldridge Harbour.
