Mr. William Ellis Roberts

Mr. William Ellis Roberts, 85, of Terry, Mississippi passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at St. Dominic Medical Center in Jackson, MS. There will be a visitation on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM also on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Chancellor Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery in Terry, Mississippi. Mr. Roberts, a veteran of the United States Navy, retired as a locomotive engineer with Illinois Central Railroad after 40 years of service. Mr. Roberts loved his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. For many years he enjoyed working with horses and helping his daughter compete in high school rodeos. Those who preceded Mr. Roberts in death include his parents; a brother, Wayne Price; and a sister, Gloria Webre. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dixie Lewis Roberts of Terry; his daughter, Loretta Thornton of Terry; grandchildren, Sydney and Tristan Lofton; great grandchildren, Bryson Dow & Easton Lofton; a brother, Elmer “Judo” (Gloria) Roberts of Clinton; sisters, Ella Beck of Vicksburg and Annette (William) Ferguson of Learned.
