William Edd Sellers was born August 23, 1936 and passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019. He was the ninth child of the late Rev. Leroy and Modie Carpenter Sellers. He was known as William, Bill, Bill Edd, Teoc, Daddy and Big Daddy. He was a blue collar worker and supported that political party. He was a strong union worker, serving as both Vice President and President of Local Union 605. Many of his hours were spent working at Flowers Drive, West Highland, Leavell Woods and Sykes Ball Parks where he served as coach, umpire, and commissioner during the eighties. He worked for MP&L/Entergy for 43 years. This was during a time when everything moved with crossties and rails, and pole holes were dug with a hole digger and a shovel. He’d recall injured and non-surviving buddies and tell how he was blessed by a power much stronger than the one he worked with. He was a member of Carollton, Forest Hill, and Leavell Woods Masonic Lodges. He loved family “Get to Gathers” and telling nieces and nephews about the family’s history. His support and strength was felt by all who knew him and after God, family came first. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Boyd, Stanley, Ricks (Sarah) and Buford. One half sister, Tessie Bell, four sisters: Kathleen Tharp, Ernesteen Taylor, Edith Adair and Martha Brewer, nine nephews and one niece. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Shows Sellers, two sons, Dr. William Edd Sellers, Jr. (Tina), Robert Sellers (Kristi); three granddaughters, Darla McDaniel (Robert), Kelsey McDonald (Adam) and Kaitlyn Sellers; one sister, Louise Derrington (Jimmy); 12 nieces and 7 nephews. Visitation will be 5-8pm Thursday, January 10, 2019 and 12:00 noon until the 1:00pm funeral service Friday, January 11, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Burial will follow at Old Good Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery north of Magee. Online guest book available at www.chancellorfuneralhome.com.
