Mr. Willie “Gibson” Phillips passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at his home in Richland. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 15th from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. and again on Friday, August 16th from 11:30 a.m. until the 1:30 p.m. Funeral Service all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. Mr. Phillips was born December 10, 1939 to Loy and Georgia Phillips of Crystal Springs. He was a resident of Richland for the past 36 years, moving from South Jackson. He was a member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church and worked for the City of Jackson Water Department for 28 years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping, and loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and Pop Pop to his great grandchildren and devoted friend to all who knew him. The family wishes to express their deepest and most sincere appreciation for his wonderful caretakers, Mike and Chad Thames Patricia Case, John Anderson, and Stephanie Brister; and his hospice nurse, April Bridges. Along with his parents, Mr. Gibson, is reunited with his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Mary Phillips; and his brothers, Joe Edwards, Lloyd, Floyd, Jack, William, Roy, Steve and Larry. He is survived by his son Andy (Dianne) Phillips of Florence; daughters, Sharon (Greg Parks) Thames of Florence and Angelia (John) Hall of Fannin; brothers, Johnny (Mary) Phillips of Jackson and Jimmy Phillips of Florence; 9 grandchildren, Justin Thames, Michael (Chad) Thames, Christopher (Jessica) Thames, Michelle Long, Casey (John) Pickens, Heather Long, Kala (Jonathon) Carter, Hallie Phillips, Garrett Phillips; and 11 greatgrandchildren, Logan Thames, Taylor Thames, Carson Thames, Dalton Phillips, Keaton Phillips, Vallie Phillips, Trendon Carter, Coltyn Haase, Kadyn Haase, Gaige Pickens, and Mamie Phillips.
