Wilma Delores Crain

Wilma Delores Crain passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, in Florence, Mississippi. She was 75 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence and again from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2023, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Florence. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Florence with burial following at Clear Branch Cemetery in Florence.

Mrs. Delores was born on June 9, 1947, to William Carthel Mixson and Mary Emma Byrd Mixson in Hinds County, Mississippi. Mrs. D was a lifelong residence of the Florence community where she attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She owned and operated Buddy’s Restaurant in Florence where she was known for her “Fat Burgers”. She was a clerk at Nate’s Place for several years. She loved picking wildflowers and berries. Mrs. D was no stranger to hard work.  She will truly be missed.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Nathan “Buddy” Crain and brother, William H. Mixson.  She is survived by her sons, Leon Crain (Cathy) and James Crain (Tracy); daughters, Carol Alderman (Kelly) and Kelly Henry (Shane); lifelong family member, Darlene Smith; sisters, Laura Crain and Martha Hayes; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
